Paediatric Neurology, a highly specialized branch of Medicine, has been brought into prominence as an advanced capability now available at Burjeel Medical City with the arrival of Dr. Arif Khan as Consultant and Director at the hospital.
As a learned Neuroscience specialist, with more than 15 years of experience in the subject, Dr. Arif is a British Board-certified Consultant in Paediatric Neurology. Dr. Arif is also credited with the founding and establishing of the reputed Comprehensive Children’s Neuroscience Centre, ‘Neuropedia’, the first of its kind medical centre in the UAE.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Arif Khan had a successful stint as Lead Clinician for Complex Epilepsies & Ketogenic Diet in the UK before joining as Adjunct Associate Professor at the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU), Dubai, UAE. He has also served as an international Tutor for Paediatric Epilepsy Training in Medical Schools and as an Examiner for the MRCPH Clinical Examination.
Dr. Arif Khan is a highly specialized Consultant at Burjeel Medical City, who is an expert in handling complex cases of childhood epilepsy, headaches, migraines, sleep disorders, neuro-muscular conditions, movement disorders, neonatal neurology, cerebrovascular stroke, cerebral palsy, neuro-metabolic conditions, neuro-genetic conditions, neuro-behavioural conditions, Autism and ADHD. In addition, he intrinsically handles cases of vagal nerve stimulation and ketogenic diet for children with refractory epilepsy; and carries out specialized investigations such as 24-hr video EEG monitoring, Paediatric NCS and EMG, VEPs and ABRs, to name a few.
After completing his initial 15 years as a clinician in the UK, Dr. Arif moved to UAE in 2015. He now serves as a Consultant and Director of Paediatric Neuroscience at Burjeel Medical City where he is engaged in creating a comprehensive neuroscience facility for paediatrics, under one roof.
