After completing his MBBCh with a high grade, Dr. Mohammed Alkatary left no stone unturned when it came to proving his excellence. In the years that followed, he earned two superior post-graduate qualifications – a master’s degree (MD) and a Doctorate in General Surgery (MD). With this illustrious academic background, Dr. Alkatary began his professional career in the position of Internship House Officer at Mansoura University Hospitals, Dakahlia Governorate, Egypt. He worked with various surgical units (Emergency Surgical Unit, Gastrointestinal Surgery, Breast Surgery, Metabolic Surgical Unit, and General Surgery) at this multi-specialty hospital, one of the leading institutions of its kind in the MENA region. Later, Dr. Alkatary also worked for the San Martino Hospital, Italy. Working at these industry-leading names in the medical and healthcare field, he showed exceptional commitment and enthusiasm and added an accomplished track-record to his credit. On the academic teaching front, Dr. Mohammed contributed significantly as he served at the Mansoura University Hospital as Clinical Lecturer and Assistant Professor, enhancing the knowledge and skills of many a budding doctor under study. Subsequent to this stint at Mansoura University Hospital, Dr. Mohammed took the position of Senior Specialist-Trauma and Acute Care Surgery and General Surgery at Mafraq Hospital and at the Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in 2012. In this position, his leadership and skill for managing critical and chronic ailments of patients helped him to address a wide range of ailments and diseases including Inguinal Hernia Repair (Elective And Emergency), Paraumbilical and Epigastric Hernia Repair (Elective And Emergency), Thyroidectomies, Appendectomy (Lap and Open), Breast Cancer Operations (Radical Mastectomies and CBS), Cholecystectomies (Open and Lap), Sympathectomies, Colectomies (Elective and Emergency), Splenectomies with Devascularization, Varicose Vein Operations, Vresearch Papearicocele Operations,Anal Operations and Procedures eg. Piles Fissures, Polyps, etc., Emergency Operations, Traumatic Hepatic Tear Repair, Volvulus Sigmoid, Obstructed Cancer Colon, Irreducible, Obstructed, Strangulated Hernia, Mesenteric Vascular Occlusion, Penetrating Injuries to the Abdomen, Abscesses, Advanced Hepatobiliary and Bariatric Surgery at the hospitals where he served throughout his 15-year-old career span.
Apart from these clinical and surgical interventions, Dr. Mohammed has also been an active as a journal reviewer and published his materials in the international medical journals and also presented his research studies at national and international workshops, conferences and seminars.
