Dr. Saladin Sawan is one of a handful surgeon in the UAE licensed by DOH to offer surgical treatment for patients with gynaecological cancers. He is dual accredited from the United Kingdom (CCT: Certificate of Completion of Training) in gynaecological oncology and obstetrics & gynaecology.
Dr. Saladin is an accomplished surgeon in treating gynaecological cancers; he has been the Clinical Lead Surgeon for Gynaecology Oncology at the James Cook Gynaecological Oncology Centre and the Chair for the multidisciplinary team (MDT) guiding the team to improve performance, efficiency and to comply with national standards. Saladin Has also led the Colposcopy and Vulval Disease services advising the team on the management of premalignant and malignant conditions; he had a dedicated tertiary clinic seeing patients with complex disease.
Dr. Saladin has been awarded an MRes in cancer immunology and a PhD studying mechanistic of ovarian cancer metastasis, from the internationally renowned CRUK Manchester. As a consultant surgeon in gynaecological oncology, Dr. Saladin has been trained in outstanding cancer centres, The Christie, St Mary’s in Manchester and the Peritoneal Malignancy Institute in Basingstoke. Saladin is competent in both pelvic and abdominal surgery as applied for gynaecological malignancies. He is passionate about delivering the best evidence-based care for women with gynaecological cancers. Therefore, he is well placed to explore novel therapies such as intra-peritoneal application of therapeutics including HIPEC and targeted therapies.
Dr. Saladin has special interest and expertise in fertility-sparing surgery for women suffering with gynaecological cancers. Dr. Saladin has a keen interest in teaching both surgical skills and clinical knowledge to trainees in O&G and sub speciality trainee in gynaecological oncology, and co-supervising PhD and MSc students.
